Artist's Description
This closeup of a coral bean tree flower came from my backyard. The seeds, I was told, are supposed to be poison but some reference it's used in Africa for medicinal purposes. In any case, the vision of the flower is brilliant in any yard. I believe it is a Bidwell's Coral Tree which is supposed to be royal in Africa and is planted on the graves of Zulu kings.
In looking for the scripture to use on the work, it reminded me of someone making the 'peace' sign with their right hand.
About Mark Robbins
My life as an artist has had many twists and turns. As you can tell from my resume at Kingsland Gardens. I've had many previous lives, none of which really involved true art. While I always prided myself on my control of the screen landscape, I never pursued the image. Over the years, there has been a burr under my saddle that has expressed itself in a restlessness to move to a different future. I think many of my previous jobs were stepping stones along this path. When I eventually broke down and tried to address it, the screen play "Christia" was the first attempt at defining the vison.
